Survey Conducted by IDEAS
As per the survey conducted by Institute of Democracy and Economic Affairs, 150 out the 1200 respondents had at least one child who had dropped out of the school. This group of 150 respondents was closely surveyed in order to find out the exact causes for children dropping out of the schools in Malaysia.
Let us take a look at the common reasons behind children dropping out from school which were found out after examining the group of 150 respondents. This group of respondents was used a sample group to closely study the reasons behind children dropping out from school.
• Children did not have any interest in studying further.
• Parents were not able to pay the school fees and other school expenses.
• Lack of parental involvement in the academics of the child.
• Lack of interest amongst parents to educate their children.
• Poor academic performance and lack of motivation to help children perform well.
According to Institute of Democracy and Economic Affairs the problems of dropouts in Malaysia should be examined again by conducting a comprehensive study.
