Challenges Faced by Dropouts

Schools play an important role in enhancing the overall growth and development of children. So, dropping out from school can have a far reaching effect on them. In fact, it can have a negative effect on their future. Let us take a look at some of the common challenges faced by dropouts.

Disability to Read and Write
Most of the dropouts are unable to read and write. They have to depend on others to do the basic things like reading and writing.

Less Employment Options
Due to the lack of right qualifications dropouts may find difficult to get good jobs. They may have to stick to alternative careers that do not need any qualifications or they have to do any job that requires very little skills or do not require any skills at all. They may have to work as labourers which may require doing a lot of manual work.

Low Income
Along with less employment opportunities, dropouts may not able to earn adequate income as compared to the educated individuals. Poor income may affect the lifestyle of such individuals.

Lack of Stable Life
Due to lack of education and disability to get a good job, dropouts may lack stable life. Their future generation may also suffer as they may not be able to guide them properly due to lack of knowledge. Their families too have to suffer with them as they may not have adequate knowledge of anything.

Substance Abuse
Due to lack of education and knowledge some dropouts may become victims of substance abuse.

Crime
Some dropouts may also indulge in crime as a way of obtaining things in an easier but through inappropriate means.

Lack of Social Status
Educated and literate people get a lot of respect and honour in the society. On the other hand uneducated and dropouts may not receive the similar respect and may not enjoy a good social status as compared to educated individuals.
